Always on the march

WHY
Observing, reading, and interpreting change presupposes an initial recognition of complexity, followed by the ability to live with it rather than simplify it. This is not a passive stance: it demands the learning of new forms of capability and the development of specific skills.

WHAT
I support individuals and organizations through three complementary dimensions:
Knowledge (KNOWING): fostering critical thinking through information, analysis and science/tech communication;
Mindset (KNOWING HOW TO BE): developing Futures Thinking and Complexity practices to expand the ability to recognize alternatives and move beyond linear assumptions;
Practice (KNOWING HOW TO DO): applying Futures & Foresight tools to analyze scenarios, generate strategic options and strengthen decision-making processes.

WHO
I work in Futures & Foresight with a specific focus on developing anticipatory capabilities that enable the reading of change and the orientation of decision-making in contexts shaped by complexity, uncertainty, and growing interdependencies.
In my approach, uncertainty is something that emerges and is observed, analyzed, and understood; complexity is not simplified or managed, but inhabited, explored, and learned to live with. I start from the assumption that “uncertainty cannot be navigated, and complexity cannot be reduced to a controllable problem”.
I work at the intersection of technology progress, society, and culture, integrating emerging technologies analysis, Complexity and Foresight practices, and methods for interpreting non-linear phenomena, with the aim of making ongoing transformations more legible and clarifying their implications over time.

I specialize in Adaptive Foresight, Complexity, and Emerging Technologies Analysis with a focus on identifying early signals and exploring the long-term social, economic and political implications of technological change. My methodological approach integrates Creative Problem Setting/Solving, Liberating Structures, Design Thinking and LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY®, enabling structured and accessible learning pathways within complex systems.

Alongside my Complexity an Foresight practice, I work as a journalist and science/tech communicator, examining how innovation influences behaviors, imaginaries and collective dynamics. As Editor-in-Chief of Tech4Future, I contribute to strengthening a culture of anticipation oriented toward understanding ongoing transformations. I regularly speak and moderate at conferences and public events focused on futures and their societal implications.

I am an active member of several Italian and International Foresight Communities – including the Global Futures Society, Association of Professional Futurists, World Futures Studies Federation, Foresight Europe Network, Fondazione Italian Institute for the Future, and Complexity Institute – collaborating on the diffusion of complexity and anticipatory practices.

AND POPULARIZER

To bring people closer to the knowledge of Futures & Foresight, I have written several books, the most important (to me) being the FUTURES PRIMER – The ABCs of the Future.

I am a journalist/popularizer in science/tech, with a focus on emerging technologies and future scenarios, Editor-in-Chief of Tech4Future and Futures Literacy Advocate.

SPEAKER
AND MODERATOR

I attend many national and international events as a speaker and moderator – and I love it! The stage is my playground.

Some of the stages I’ve had the most fun on: TEDx, TEHA – The European House Ambrosetti, YML – Young Manufacturing Leaders Summit, HIT – Hub Innovazione Trentino, IBM Think, SAS Innovate… as well as the stages of many “out of the box” corporate conventions!
